Sony and Insomniac Games officially announced today, following the initial leak by bilbil-kun, that Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart is coming to PC. The PC version of the latest installment in the Ratchet and Clank series will bring various visual enhancements. Let’s take a closer look at the details of this exciting news.
Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart will be released on July 26th for PC, and pre-orders are now available. Players who pre-order will gain early access to the Pixelizer Weapon and the Carbonox Armor set. Additionally, the game will provide support for 21:9, 32:9, and even 48:9 resolutions, promising an immersive experience for triple monitor setups.
Both gameplay and cutscenes have been optimized for ultra-wide screens. The game will feature ray-traced reflections, allowing players to choose from different quality levels. Furthermore, ray-traced shadows have been added to enhance the natural lighting in outdoor areas.
Sony has been following a strategy of bringing its console exclusives to PC in recent years. This strategy has included games such as Horizon Zero Dawn, God of War, Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection, and Days Gone, which generally received positive feedback. However, the recent PC release of The Last of Us Part 1 faced optimization issues, causing some players to be skeptical about Sony’s PC ports. Sony hopes to change this perception with Ratchet and Clank, aiming for a fresh start.
